Your Journey to Surgery
If you're coming to see Dr Rob for surgery, here’s what your day might look like. Don’t worry — Dr Rob and his team will take good care of you every step of the way.
Meeting Dr Rob
At your first visit, you’ll meet Dr Rob. He’ll say hello and have a friendly chat with you and your family. He might need to check something on your body to help figure out what’s going on — this is called an examination, and it won’t hurt.
Dr Rob will talk about what might be happening and explain if you need surgery. You and your family can ask any questions you like!
Getting Ready for Surgery
If you do need surgery, we’ll help your family get everything ready. You might pack a little bag with comfy clothes, your favourite toy, or book. You won’t be able to eat or drink for a while before surgery — don’t worry, we’ll tell your grown-ups exactly what to do.
Arriving at Hospital
On the big day, you’ll go to the hospital with your family. Nurses will welcome you and help you get ready. You might wear a special gown, and someone will check things like your temperature or blood pressure — just gentle checks to make sure everything’s okay.
Seeing Dr Rob Before Surgery
Before the surgery starts, Dr Rob will come and say hello again. He’ll check in with you and your family, answer any last-minute questions, and make sure you feel okay. You’ll then go to sleep with special medicine (called anaesthesia), so you won’t feel or remember anything during the surgery.
After surgery & heading home to rest
When the surgery is all done, you’ll wake up in a cosy recovery room. Your family will be there soon after to give you big hugs! Dr Rob will make sure everything went well and talk about how to take care of yourself at home.
You’ll get to rest, watch movies, and eat some food (maybe even ice cream!) while you get better.
Dr Rob and his team are here to help you feel safe, brave, and cared for.
